DEPARTMENT OF DRAWING & PAINTING

Our Drawing and Painting course offers hands-on technical & practical skills of each student’s process in line with their own personal vision, thereby giving them all the exploratory freedom as an individual artist. Throughout this course, students utilize traditional and modern drawing and painting technique. Here we enable students to develop an appreciation for the visual arts as well as expose them to the various styles of painting from ancient to modern art eras. We organize many art activities like exhibitions, workshops to keep the students abreast with the modern techniques of drawing and painting.

DEPARTMENT OF HOME SCIENCE

Department of Home Science offers a broad-based course that gives students exposure to “real life lessons”and skills to give them confidence to face the world as informed citizens. It applies the findings of the physical, biological and social sciences for improving the quality standards of individual and family life. Here we train the students to build up ideal families and motivate them to become agents of social change by stimulating their creative abilities, powers of reasoning and reflection. The course enables the students to understand and apply fundamentals of nutrition and health at the family level and make them aware of the various nutrition and health related problems in the community.

GEOGRAPHY

Geography subject which comes under arts is basically used to analyze the things like unprecedented growth, constant growth, urbanization and meteorological issues. The UG syllabus, generally focuses on theory of rock structure, meteorology, oceanography, Human Geography, Source Geography, South Asian Geography, Mapping, Assessment and survey technology, Remote sensing and Geographic information system.

HINDI LITERATURE

Hindi is an official language of India. Hindi Language is also called as a lingua-franca of India. In today’s globalized world Hindi is very essential language. Hindi literature deals with the use of literature in the Hindi Language. It has a very old and vast literature which covers Poetry, Drama, Grammar, Fiction, Ancient History and many more sections from old folk tales. It develops National Integration and gives the opportunity to delve into the culture of India.

ENGLISH LITERATURE

The Department of English of Aklank College is as old as the college itself, and functioning from its inception in 1998. The department has been handling courses in English Language and English Literature. General English is taught to the streams of B.A. and B.Sc. at First Year level and English Literature at B.A. I, II, III year level as per the prescribed syllabi of University of Kota. In General English the students are being taught the comprehension skills, reading, writing and listening skills and grammar skills. The main thrust of the syllabus is on communication and personality development through activity based skills testing their creative abilities.

The college follows the syllabi of University of Kota in English Literature which familiarize students to Elizabethan literature, Neo-classical Literature, Romantic poets and authors, the Victorian poets and novelists and Modern poets and authors. It provides them a thorough and sound knowledge of the literature of all these ages in the four genres viz. poetry, drama, prose and fiction. Remedial classes are also conducted for the students who are weak in English language.

SANSKRIT

Sanskrit, being a classical language, attracts few but genuinely interested students. The students of this Department show great participation in various inter-college competitions including Sanskrit Debate, Poetry Recitations and Sanskrit Drama competitions.

The study of History provides in-depth analysis and understanding of the progress of mankind throughout the world. It enables the students to develop a historical perspective about development in India as well as all the significant events of the world. It also helps them to understand the cause and the consequences of the event historically. The faculty consists of dedicated and experienced teachers.

POLITICAL SCIENCE

Primary Objective of the syllabus of Political Science is “Education of Citizenship”. Intelligent and responsible citizenship can save democracy else it could be lost by ignorance and avoidance.

Knowledge of modern government and politics is as important as awareness for independence. Political science collects this knowledge and creates awareness to students.

Good behavior is just not enough to be a good citizen but he/she must know the solutions of problems. He/She should have the knowledge that how a govt. formed and who are the elected representatives. Political science is the subject which provides all this knowledge and helps in the making of a responsible citizen.This is an applied subject of theoretical description.The department teaches the Syllabus of the subject as prescribed by the University of Kota.

ECONOMICS

The Scope of Economics is very wide and it is most important subject in the present time of globalization. The continuous growth in the subject matter of economics had led to divergent views about the scope of economics. The true scope of economics includes –

PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

PublicAdministration is latest subject in arts streams. It helps students to select subject in administrative studies. It covers large portion of general knowledge and general studies. Recently in CSAT (Civil service aptitude test) there is a paper of administrative aptitude test. Public Administration helps students to solve these types of aptitude tests.Candidates optPublic Administration as optional subject in IAS (CSAT), RAS and other competitive exams.

SOCIOLOGY

Arts graduates are recognized for their excellent communication skills, ability to critically analyze information, creative problem solving and research abilities. The study of sociology as a subject in arts is a rewarding and stimulating enterprise, both intellectually and in terms of future career prospects in a variety of professional fields. It is also an important addition to related disciplines such as Government, Economics, Philosophy, Education, Psychology, Anthropology and History, and it usefully complements studies in English, Art History and Theory, Languages, Law and Science.
